I started performing as a spoken word poet in 2016. Since then I have won the following slams: Great Northern Slam March 2016, Say Owt Anti-Slam 2016, Bristol Poetry Festival Slam 2016, Crewe Axis Slam 2017, Word War Finalist 2017.
I love the immediacy of spoken word and since winning my first slam have performed at some of the leading spoken word nights across the UK including:
Evidently (Manchester), Milk (Bristol), Find the Right Words (Leicester), Women of Words (Hull), Verbal Remedies (Leeds), Spoken Weird (Halifax).
Here's me as a guest on the Say Owt podcast, talking in more detail about what I love about spoken word:

COMMON GROUND THEATRE
In 2014 I co-founded Common Ground Theatre, a company that seeks to make work in unusual and non-traditional theatre spaces. Our most recent production was a production in Dalby Forest that brought to life the experiences of the Women's Timber Corps, an overlooked and under celebrated faction of the Land Army, who took over the country's forestry work from the men during World War II. Supported by the Arts Council this was a co-production with the Forestry Commission. We are delighted to be working with them to re-stage the piece as a tour to other forest sites.
Have a look at this, and some of our other work here:
Somewhere in a small Northern town a woman walks into her constituency office and asks for help. Somewhere in Westminster a woman prepares to stand up and address the House...
There are 650 seats in the House of Commons, of these 208 are held by women. Maiden Speeches is inspired by the challenges facing outspoken women everywhere. A new play about being bold, speaking out and not giving up.
This play is in development with York Theatre Royal and I am pleased to be working with actor/researcher Barbara Marten, director Eleanor Rhode and producer Tara Finney on this exciting and timely piece of new writing.
We launched the project in April at York Theatre Royal, and presented short extracts of our research and some early scripted pieces for audience feedback. We have recently secured Arts Council Funding for the next stages of the R&D.
