I am an experienced writing tutor. I have a PhD in Playwriting from the University of York where I taught as an Associate Lecture in the Theatre, Film and Television Department. In 2012 I was awarded the Vice Chancellors Teaching Award for recognition of excellence after being nominated by my MA Theatre students. Come and explore your creative writing practice in the beautiful setting of the Stables Yoga Centre! A month-long course for writers of all levels and experience.

The course takes place over four weekly sessions, and covers aspects of writing for short story, memoir, poetry and dialogue. Classes include writing prompts, discussion, guided exercises and lots of sharing and feeding back on each other’s work. 

The course is led by Hannah Davies, award-winning writer, theatre-maker and multi-slam winning, spoken word poet. (Royal Court, York Theatre Royal, Tara Finney Productions Ltd, Bristol Poetry Slam Winner, Word War Four Champion, BBC Edfringe Slam). As well as regularly writing and performing, Hannah has a PhD by Creative Practice and is an experienced workshop leader and writing tutor. She is an Associate Artist at Say Owt Poetry organisation and has taught in theatres, community groups, poetry organisations, and in drama schools and Universities. In 2012 she won the Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Award after being nominated by her MA Theatre students. Hannah fosters a friendly and inclusive writing environment and believes that writing is a fun, social activity, and that everyone can find their own unique voice on the page.
